Loss

The loss of a loved one can be one of the most difficult things you ever encounter. Recognize that this is a life-changing event and allow yourself time to experience your emotions and be patient with the time it may take you to heal. You can expect to feel all or many of the following emotions during the grieving process:

   * Denial –It may seem impossible that this individual is really gone, or that something so difficult could happen to you.
   * Anger – you may feel angry toward those responsible for or involved in the loss, such as caregivers or medical staff.
   * Bargaining – as your anger begins to ebb a bit, you may
find yourself trying to bargain with God, or with whatever universal power you believe in.
   * Depression – overwhelming sadness may leave you feeling distracted and uninterested in normal activities. Consider professional help if you continue to feel so sad that you are finding it difficult to function.
   * Acceptance – You will eventually accept your loss, in your own time. Accepting the loss doesn't mean that it doesn't
still hurt, but you will begin to find ways to move forward with hope.

There is no timetable for how long it will take you to cope with the loss of a loved one.
